Safari Lodges And Game Reserves In Africa...

Going on a safari in Africa fires up the imagination with all sorts of images of open air 4x4 vehicles driving through the bush and tented camps where any manner of beast can easily gain access and eat you for a midnight snack. This is not the case at most safari lodges however. Game reserves across Africa have a multitude of lodges that offer you a variety of accommodation from five star luxury resorts to camping grounds where you can sleep under the night sky. The camps and lodges are all fenced in with electrical wiring to keep the wild animals out and you safe and secure.

Game walks and drives are optional and are always accompanied by an armed game ranger who is trained in animal tracking, spotting as well as safety precautions. Some game reserves will allow you to drive your own vehicle through the park but it is always better to go with a ranger who has knowledge of the area. Most safari lodges employ their own game rangers to act as guides and you can book your animal viewing activities when you book your accommodation at the lodge. Make sure that the game reserve that you choose has the animals in the park that you wish to see. If you are unsure what wildlife you would like to view, choose a park that has the big five which includes lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

Remember that when you are on safari that the game reserves and parks are primarily there to protect the fauna and flora within its boundaries. So take only photographs and leave only footprints when you visit these reserves and help protect the wide range of wildlife for the next generation to enjoy.
